About Sami Kuhn

Sami Kuhn began her professional adventures in decorative painting in 1998 in San Antonio after a fortuitous meeting with one of the city’s most talented interior designers. At once, a lifelong obsession with transformation, an odd penchant for painting, and a workplace reputation as the Color Queen convened to set Sami on the path that would become her Painted Groove.

Since that time she has studied faux finishes and decorative painting at Vigini Studios in San Antonio and through many years of personal study and experimentation in her home studio and on the job in some of Texas’ most distinguished residences. Her work has been seen by thousands in showcase homes of the Greater San Antonio Builders Association Parade of Homes. Current fixations include combined works with plasters and stenciling while painted furniture and cabinetry remain lifelong loves.

A native of the Big Bend region of West Texas, Sami studied journalism at Angelo State University and worked for many years in newspaper and magazine publishing before discovering her true calling in the transformation of her clients’ personal spaces. She and her husband, Ryan Kuhn, have three daughters and live on the beautiful Guadalupe River near Seguin, Texas.
